Using Tarot to Guide Your Year
Out with the old. In with the New. 2019 was a year filled with many ups and downs, pain and blessings. But I went into 2019 with my eyes wide open - my cards leading me.
2020 is in full swing, but five days into the year, and I haven’t completed my 2020 year spread!
This is a spread that I find super helpful going into the year. It gives you a snapshot of what each month will look like for the year to come. I found it helpful to either look back on the completed month at how the card was relevant or to look forward and reference themes as you encounter difficult situations.
This year, the Death card fell on the same month as my anniversary with my last partner. I was prepared when we decided to call it quits as opposed to being blindsided. I knew the relationship would transform to give life to something new, and we’re still amicable today.
I pulled the Strength card in November, which was a needed reminder when boycotting Thanksgiving. Reminding me to have faith in myself and to use my resources as I tame the beasts within. It was comforting to have that in the back of my head as I forged the Holiday terrain decidedly without my family.
This spread is not here to inhibit how you move in the coming year but to provide you with themes to keep in your corner.
If you’re ready to do one for yourself, let’s get going!
Gather your cards.
Find a quiet or comfortable space.
Cleanse your aura with some sage (or meditate to clear your energy field).
Begin by shuffling your cards. There’s no right or wrong way to do it.
Speak your intention before you draw. You can use your own or state, “I receive whatever guidance the universe bestows upon me through this portal knowing this reading will only reveal that which is for my higher good.”
When you’re ready, pull one card. This will be for January.
You can continue to pull one by one or shuffle in between pulls. Pull a card for each month.
Your 13th card will be your theme card for the year.
Reflect not only on what each card will bring for each month, but look at how all of the cards relate to each other. What path is your year on? How does your theme card support each of the other cards? What obstacles, landmarks, and events can you forsee interacting with these cards?
Remember, that which is revealed is for your greater good. Feel free to share your spread in the comments below or on IG through the tag #CCovenYearSpread.
Happy Tarot & Happy New Year!
