Thank you for Joining me for Collaborative Creativity!

Below are a few things you’ll need.

Come on in!

Get Settled!

Before we get started, be thinking about what kind of a piece you want to create.

What do you want to say individually today?

What do we want to say as a group?

Workshop Prompts

  • What do you need in order to create a safe space for collaboration?

What are your collaborative expectations? At the minimum, I expect:

    • Respect

    • Participation

    • Honesty

    • Vulnerability

    • Openness

    • Authentic Expression

    • Give & Take

    • Play — Use familiar Materials in unfamiliar ways

    • That you show up standing in your creative power. You are a choreographer.

    Anything to add?

  • “I don’t like it” is not enough. When giving feedback consider:

    • What stood out to you?

    • What did you want to see more of?

    • Where did you see the energy shift?

    • What left you wanting more?

    • What brought up a feeling or emotion for you?

When receiving feedback, check in with your intention. What did you want to convey? Did it come across?

  • Be prepared to share:

    • Your Name (and pronouns) with a movement

      • We’re gonna dance it back to you!

    • What items did you bring to Inspire you?

    • This or That?

      • Storylines?

      • Movement for Movement’s Sake?

  • Pick 1!

    1. Give yourself restriction like:

      1. No hairography or don’t touch your hair

      2. Only move one side of your body

      3. Keep 2 limbs connected to the same surface

    2. Grab a journal, a social media feed, or a book. Flip to a random page and find one word/sentence. Dance that word or sentence.

    3. Take a moment to design a character (Comfort Zone Alert*)

      1. How does that character move? Emote? Think?

      2. What triggers them?

      3. Give them an obstacle.

      4. Act it out.

    4. Take up space! Use the room. Define your stage area. You’ll need little somethings for this one.
